Obituary for Harvey Hubbell IV

Harvey Hubbell, IV, age 80, of North Palm Beach, Florida passed away Tuesday morning, February 16, at home in his summer residence on 6 West St., Newtown, CT.

He was born May 8, 1929 in Bridgeport, CT to Clara (Ham) Hubbell and Harvey Hubbell III.
He was a longtime resident of Newtown, and resident of Florida since 1984. Harvey Hubbell IV was the beloved husband of Ann (Edwards) Hubbell for the past 22 years.

Harvey was a graduate of the Eastman National Business College and the Babson Institute.
He served as 1st Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean conflict. Harvey worked for and later retired from the families business.

Being an ardent historian, Harvey was a member and President of The Hubbell Center –
a family historical society located in Des Moines, Iowa, as well as a member of the Palm Beach Genealogical Society.

He was an avid hot air balloonist since 1978. One of his balloons, the Chanticleer, sports Newtown’s “Rooster” logo. Harvey and his crew flew worldwide. He was the Director of the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, William Ham Hubbell and Bianca of Argentina; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Schwerin and Tim of Vero Beach, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Richard Lugovich of Harrisburg, PA; son, Harvey Hubbell V of Litchfield, CT. Harvey also leaves behind a beloved legacy of stepchildren, grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members.

Calling hours will be at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT on Friday, February 19th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church on Main Street in Newtown, CT, with burial following at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT.
