James V. Cesario of Sandy Hook passed away at the age of 77 on May 6, 2020, at Danbury Hospital. Born on September 9, 1942, in Derby, he was the son of the late James and Grace (Sherman) Cesario.

He attended Derby High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Allegheny College, Meadville, Penn. He lived for many years in North Haven before moving to Sandy Hook, three years ago.

Until his retirement, James worked for the Connecticut State Department of Labor for 35 years, most recently as an appeals claim referee. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, and as such, held several offices. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed watching UConn women’s basketball.

James is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosemary (Kerestury); his sister Anne Reilly of Rockaway, N.J.; and a niece, Katherine Losche, of Freehold, N.J.
