James Vincent Gaudiosi, 79, of Newtown beloved husband and father, passed away after a long illness on June 30th, 2010 in the comfort of his home. He is survived by Genevieve, wife of 40 years and two daughters, Pamela Nieves of NY and Justine Franco of VT. He leaves behind two loving granddaughters, Sarah and Claire and a son-in-law Irwin.

Vince was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. He graduated from St. Peter's College with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and soon afterwards enlisted in the United States Navy where he became a pilot and was stationed in Pensacola, FL. Later, he worked as a senior electrical engineer for Perkin-Elmer for 20 years, and retired in 1987.

Vince had a passion for the ocean and enjoyed swimming and fishing, especially as a child with his father and uncles. Later, he shared that love of swimming with his daughters. With his granddaughters, he taught them an appreciation of nature and the outdoors, taking them on hikes around his country home. With his wife, he shared adventures of travel and dining, vacationing in Aruba, Hawaii and Saratoga Springs, NY. While Vince was a quiet guy, all who knew him will remember his kindness and sense of humor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, in Newtown on Saturday, July 3rd at 11am. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home 58 Main St. Newtown Friday from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm.
