Obituary for Jill Metcalf

Jill Metcalf, 78, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Danbury Hospital.
Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Gladys and Ernest Ingram, Jr. She attended Newtown schools, and went on to become a hairdresser. She owned and operated several hair salons over the years.
She was a member of the VFW Post 308 Ladies Auxiliary and Sandy Hook Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed painting and watching the birds through her kitchen window. She will not only be remembered for her contagious laughter, but also her bright, bold, and friendly spirit.
She is survived by her brothers, Ernest Ingram III and Robert Ingram and his wife Terry, her daughter, Kelly Richardson and her husband Bradley, her grandchildren, John, Marissa, Ali, Briana, and Kari, great-granddaughter Savana, and her niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John, her son, Jack, and her former spouse, Chester “Chet” Metcalf.
The calling hours will be held on Thursday June 28, 6-8 PM at the Honan Funeral Home 58 Main St. Newtown, and a graveside service and burial will be on Friday June 29 at 10:30 AM at Saint Rose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Newtown Ambulance Association, VFW Post 308, and Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire Department.
