Obituary for John Robert "Jack" Liggins

John R. Liggins, age 76, beloved husband of Beverly (Metcalf) Liggins and a 48 year resident of Newtown, died Thursday April 15, 2010 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport.
He was born in Bridgeport August 3, 1933 a son of the late Walter and Marie (Mariarz) Liggins. John was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport and was a member of the basketball team. Following college he served two years in the US Army and played semi-pro basketball. Mr. Liggins retired after 35 years of service for Harvey Hubbell, Inc. where he was a Computer Analyst. He also taught computer science at Waterbury State Technical College. John was and avid golfer and a basketball enthusiast. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his daughters, Louise LaCroce and her husband Steve of Prospect, Laura Bursey and her husband Craig of Farmington, Jackie Zoldy and her husband Jim and Joy Kyle and her husband Chris all of Watertown and eight grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church Monday April 19, 2010 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home 58 Main St. Newtown Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00pm.
