Condolence From: Ian R. Lawson, MD
Condolence: Joe and I were sitting at a Danbury Hospital dinner-ball, decades ago, when he talked about robots as idiots compared to the human brain and the shame of its dying with us. His will be missed. As a geriatric physician, I cooperated with his vision and development of the service robot for which, alas, he could get neither enthusiasm nor funding from US corporate leaders. He forecast that the Japanese, as with the industrial robot, would forge ahead, honoring him along the way, as they did.
