Joseph Allan Lato, age 72 of Newtown died December 21st at his home. He was born in Norwalk January 7, 1940 a son of the late Dominick and Anna (Sedlak) Lato. Joe will be sadly missed by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 50 years Patricia (Nemeth) Lato. He is also survived by his daughter Karen Jensen and her husband Chris of Newtown; his son Joseph Lato and his wife Kerri of Beacon Falls; a sister, Peggy Tedesco and husband Mike of Perry, GA; 4 brothers, Jim Lato of Mineola, NY, Michael Lato and his wife Ginny of Norwalk, Richard Lato and wife Linda of Trumbull, and Frank Lato of Greensboro, NC; and 5 grandchildren, David and John Jensen, Tyler, Brett and Camryn Lato.
Joe was devoted to horses from an early age. His knowledge and skill as a farrier was extraordinary. Joe had the gift to train and ride horses of all temperaments. He owned the Joe Lato Horse Farm for over 40 years and was known throughout the area as a gifted and talented horseman as well as a good friend to many. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown on Wednesday December 26th from 5:00 to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown Thursday Dec. 27th at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery.
