Joseph Gerald Mailloux, age 44, loving father to Ryan Mailloux and Jake Mailloux, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2015. Joseph was born in Bridgeport on September 20, 1970, the son of Helene Mailloux of Monroe and the late Gerald Mailloux. Joseph graduated from Masuk High School in 1988 and from Fairfield University in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in management. He was employed as a sales project manager for Kelley Brothers Hardware in Trumbull, for 21 years.
Joseph’s home was in the Sandy Hook section of Newtown, the town in which he was an active and respected member of the community. He served tirelessly and selflessly as Cal Ripkin Director and Board Member of the Newtown Babe Ruth Baseball League, and as a coach to hundreds of children in the community not only for baseball, but also for basketball, soccer, and travel teams.
Foremost, Joseph was an adoring, supportive, and proud father to Ryan and Jake. With them, he shared a love of the outdoors, sports, and travel; he enjoyed fishing, skiing, golfing, and football. He avidly supported the New York Giants. Recently, Joseph, Ryan, and Jake visited Hawaii. In addition to his sons, he is survived by his mother, Helene Mailloux; his sister, Jennifer Mailloux, her husband, Joseph Reiner, their son and Joseph’s godson, Adam Reiner; and his grandmother, Irene Mailloux. Joseph will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by other family members as well, including aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many, many friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, January 15, between 5:00 and 8:00 pm at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
