Obituary for Lois M. Pratt (Butler)



Lois M. (Butler) Pratt, age 75, wife of the late Roland C. Pratt of Newtown died Tuesday March 10, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family after a brief illness.
She was born in Bridgeport on May 24, 1933 a daughter of the late Hubbell and Beatrice (Layman) Butler. Lois was a resident of Newtown since 1953. She worked the midnight to eight shifts as a dispatcher for the Town of Newtown for 30 years and was presented a certificate of recognition for her years of service.
Mrs. Pratt was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sandy Hook for many years, but more recently attended the Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown. She was widely known throughout the community for her volunteer work at the Senior Center and at Ashlar of Newtown. Lois was an avid bowler and loved doing crafts. She was a member of the TOPS organization and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 308.
But most of all, she loved Roland and now she’ll be with him for eternity but sadly missed here by her family forever.
Lois is survived by two sons, Robert Pratt and his wife Linda of Patrick Springs, Va. and Joseph Pratt and his fiancée Amy Charles of Newtown; 3 step children; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, John, Donald and Raymond Butler.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 14, 2009 at 11:00am in Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home 58 Main St. Newtown Friday from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Contributions may be made to Connecticut VNA Hospice c/o Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
