Obituary for Marion Germond Kellogg

Marion Germond  Kellogg
Marion Germond Kellogg passed away on November 28th. She was born on May 22, 1920 in Pittsfield Mass, wife of the late Floyd Ellsworth Kellogg. Marion spent most of her early years in Stratford before moving to Trumbull and graduating from Bassick High School . She married Floyd on July 26, 1941 at St. Teresa’s in Trumbull. Marion worked for the Bridgeport Brass Co. before raising four children. In 1970 she moved to Newtown to a home her husband built and remained there until 2005 when she moved onto the property of son and daughter-in-law Allen and Cheryl Kellogg. Marion worked for 20 years as a secretary/bookkeeper at Century 21 in Bethel , before retiring in 1998 and was a communicant of St. Rose Church, Newtown . She loved to crochet, and family members were the recipients of many beautiful baby blankets and afghans made by her hands. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her son Allen G. and his spouse Cheryl (Avery) of Newtown, she is survived by her daughter Maribeth, and son-in-law Kenneth S. Onofrey of Sandy Hook, a daughter-in–law Bridget (Meyer) Kellogg of New Milford, as well as grandchildren, Kirsten (Kellogg) Tuz, Allen A. Kellogg, Jennifer B. Kellogg, Floyd E. Kellogg, Kenneth M. Onofrey and Carolyn Onofrey, their spouses and eight great grandchildren. Marion is also survived by her sister Jean Pategas of Monroe. She was predeceased by sons Floyd E., Kenneth W. and great grandson’s Cody A. Kellogg and Anthony I. Kellogg. The family would like to thank Virginija Melasiene ( Marion’s caregiver for 18 months) who stood by her side giving her the most loving and best care her family could ask for. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown Tuesday at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home 58 Main St. Newtown Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:15am prior to mass. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
