Obituary for Mary Ellen Bulan (O'Mahony)

Mary Ellen Bulan
101 years celebrate the life of Mary Ellen Bulan who passed away peacefully at her home on July 14, 2012 to be with her loving husband Stanley who pre-deceased her on April 20, 2012.
Born March 20, 1911 in New York City to Irish immigrants, James Patrick and Mary (Walsh) O’Mahony, she was pre-deceased by her sisters, Helen O’Gara, Catherine Coleman, Margaret O’Mahony, Bridget Dunne, Joan Moriarity and Patricia Babcock. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Doyle (Judson) of Newtown and son, Stephen Bulan (Patricia) of New Fairfield and her seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
A born and bred New Yorker, there was no place she would rather be than in the heart of Manhattan. She was in the fashion and textile industry in New York for over 25 years with the textile firm of Avondale Mills. Career driven and independent, she was a woman ahead of her time. She enjoyed all of the excitement that New York had to offer and to this day would have loved to be in the center of Times Square than anywhere else.
Mary Ellen was a faith-filled woman who was a daily communicant most recently at St. Rose of Lima where she continued her quest for knowing, loving and serving God.
She shared her life with her loving husband of 62 years, Stan and was a kind and gentle woman who demonstrated a generous and loving spirit to those around her.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 17th at The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 18th at 10:30am at St. Rose of Lima, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. She will be laid to eternal rest next to the love of her life at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Mary Ellen’s name to Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut, 405 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810.
