Obituary for Mary Teresa Wlasuk (Lardner)

Mary Teresa Lardner Wlasuk, age 78, previously of Newtown and Southbury, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2011 at home in Texas with her husband and family at her side. Mary was born on November 1, 1932 in Port Chester, N.Y. to Hannah and Thomas Lardner. She graduated from Port Chester High School in 1950 and married her husband of nearly 60 years on November 17, 1951. They had their six children in Port Chester before moving to Newtown in 1967. Mary worked at the Newtown Middle School cafeteria for several years and opened her home to Cub Scouts, St. Rose CCD classes, and her children's many friends. She and her husband worked as care-takers on estates in Greenwich for more than 20 years before retiring to Southbury. The most important part of her life was her family, but she also cherished her quiet time left for reading and daily Days of Our Lives. She was especially grateful to her granddaughter, Michelle, for the care she provided these past two years. She is survived by her husband, Peter Wlasuk, and their six children and spouses, Teresa and Charles Kuhn, Patricia and John Commander, Michael and Aileen Wlasuk, Kathleen Wlasuk, Ann and David Cain, and Peter and Antoinette Wlasuk. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Richard, and Matthew Kuhn; Timothy, Michael, and Amy Commander; Steven Nielson; Patrick, Elizabeth, and Ryan Cain and Peter and John Wlasuk; by her sister, Patricia Rosa, and brother and his wife, Thomas and Pat Lardner; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Southbury Public Library, 100 Poverty Road, Southbury, CT 06488. To leave an online condolence, go to www.honanfh.com.
