Devoted Wife, Mother and Educator

Patricia Lynne Aschauer, of Newtown, CT passed away at her home Sunday, October 25, 2009. Born in Springfield, Illinois, to Ruth and Edward Clayton, Patricia is survived by her husband, Joseph Glenn Aschauer, to whom she was married for 40 years.

She is also survived by her daughter, Kiersten Lynne Aschauer and son, Ryan Joseph Aschauer and their spouses, Shad Borgen and Ashley Aschauer, respectively.

A well-loved and longtime educator at Newtown’s Head o’ Meadow school, Patricia was known as a deeply devoted and compassionate teacher. For 18 years, she worked tirelessly to inspire young minds in innovative ways. Her goal: encouraging her students to embrace learning and life.

Her family is especially grateful for the overwhelming support from friends and teachers from Head o’ Meadow School.

When not in the classroom, Pat could be found at a Broadway play in New York City, watching a classic movie, listening to public radio, gardening or watching birds in her back yard. Her clever quips, gorgeous smile and colorful style will be missed by many.

Calling hours are Saturday, Oct 31 at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown from 12:00 noon to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
