Obituary for Paul Michael Cappellini

Paul M. Cappellini, 73, of Sandy Hook, lost his year-long battle with cancer on March 18, at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by his family. Mr Cappellini was born January 25, 1937, in Tarrytown, N.Y., the son of Paul and Anna (Mondoni) Cappellini.

He was a hunting enthusiast and was an active member of the Fairfield County Fish and Game for many years, having recently been awarded the distinction of being named "An Honorary Lifetime Member."

Mr Cappellini was a plumber by trade, having received his training from Samuel Gompers Trade School, and retired from the State of Connecticut correctional division in 2004 after 20 years of service.

He was a true handyman, never afraid to take on any home improvement project of his own or to help out his family and friends with theirs.

Mr Cappellini is survived by his wife, Irene Hornbeck Cappellini of Sandy Hook, as well as his family, George Mattegat, Jr of Southbury, Marian St Pierre and her husband, Bob, of Maine, Jay Mattegat and his wife, Melanie, and children Lauren and Jacey of Newtown, Beth Koschel and her husband, Kevin, and children Kayla and Marley of Sandy Hook; and his sister Ann Martino and her husband, Don, and her son Jonathan Thiessen of Elmsford, N.Y.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

At his request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the family's convenience.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
