Dr. Robert (Bob) P. Ragusa, previously a longtime resident of Stratford, died peacefully in his home on September 3, 2017 at the age of 88.
Bob is survived by his children, Michael Ragusa and his wife Cecily of Fort Myers, FL, Kathi Hegenauer and her husband Bill of Newtown, Anne Ragusa and her husband Jamie Morris of Newtown, Bob Ragusa and his wife Polly of Redwood City, CA, John Ragusa and his wife Janet of Cheshire, Patty Cavanaugh and her husband Jeff of Cheshire, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, his sister Lee Pirrotti and her husband Tony of Weston, VT. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Ragusa, his parents Joseph and Carrie Ragusa and his brother Joseph “Sonny” Ragusa.
Bob was born on October 27, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Columbia University as an undergraduate and Georgetown University as a Medical Doctor. He married the love of his life, Nancy Sullivan in 1953 and they were married for 50 years. After serving as a Captain in the Air Force during the Korean War, they moved Stratford where Bob started his own private medical practice. Bob served as president of the Fairfield County American Medical Association and was a life-long member of the Rotary Club. He was a member of Mill River Country Club in Stratford, where he was an avid golfer. He was passionate about football and looked forward to each new football season. Bob dedicated himself to his family and valued his family above all else.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:00am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
