Obituary for Roberta Ann "Nona" Forno (Savino)

Roberta A Savino Forno, age 81 died June 16 in the ICU at Danbury Hospital. A longtime resident of Sandy Hook, Mrs. Forno was born in Bridgeport, CT on December 7, 1932 to Dorothy (Turgeon) and Louis J Savino, Sr. Mrs. Forno was the wife of the late Frank Forno Sr. and is survived by her 3 children: Janet Harris and her husband Mathew of Columbia, MD; Dr. Francis Forno, Jr. and his wife Kathryn of Sandy Hook; and Anthony Forno of Sandy Hook. Mrs. Forno is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband, a sister and brother and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Mrs. Forno worked for 14 years as an attendant at Southbury Training School. As a longtime teacher of the Bob Ross painting technique, she enjoyed giving others the joy of creating art. She loved to play Kismet and Scrabble, sew and crochet, listen to the Beach Boys, and watch movies with her family. She was passionate about her faith with particular devotions to the Sacred Heart, the Precious Blood and the Holy Rosary. She was known as Nona by family and friends. Her genuine smile and great sense of humor made her loved by everyone who met her. She will be missed by all.
The family extends their appreciation to the many people who cared for her over her extended illness, with specific thanks to the Staff of the River Glen Heath Center and Danbury Hospital ER staff and ICU nurse Chris. Your care and compassion will be dearly remembered. A Prayer Service will be held Friday June 19th at 11:00am in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. Newtown. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
