Obituary for Robin Ann Callahan (Cooper)

Robin Ann Callahan (Cooper)
Robin Callahan (Cooper), 58, of Newtown, died at her home on February 12, 2014 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Robin was born to Robert and the late Doris Callahan on Sept. 24, 1955 in Stamford. She was a 1973 graduate of Stamford Catholic High School and a 1977 graduate of Central Ct State University. For 28 years, Robin traveled the four corners of the world as a flight attendant for Pan Am and later with Delta Airlines. She retired in 2007 and then devoted herself to the business she and her husband started in 2004, Dere Street Bakery of Danbury.
Robin is survived by her devoted husband of 29 years, David Cooper and their three children, Siobhan Cooper of Nashville, TN, Ian Cooper of Miami, FL, and Colin Cooper of Newtown who were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her loving father, Robert Callahan of Newtown (formerly of Stamford), and her five brothers and sisters, Barbara (Barry) Lee of San Anselmo, CA, Beth Callahan of Slingerlands, NY, Timothy (Laura) Callahan of Wilton, CT, Terence (Kelly) Callahan of Franklin, MA, and Robert (Carrie) Callahan of Scarborough, ME. Robin also leaves behind 15 nieces and nephews as well as many cousins and close friends all of whom will miss her dearly. Traveling the world was Robin's passion whether it was through her job or with her family. She loved music, fashion, decorating her beautiful home and a good bottle of wine. Nothing made her happier than long walks with her dog Shea, a gourmet meal cooked by her husband, a perfectly manicured lawn and of course an Alabama (Roll Tide!) football game. Robin's family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff at Mass. General Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, particularly Dr. A.K Goodman for their wonderful care during her illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 19, 2014 at 11:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Rd Newtown. Friends may call on Tuesday February 18th from 5-8pm at The Honan Funeral Home 58 Main Street, Newtown. Robin generously gave to many charities throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AmeriCares, 88 Hamilton Ave. Stamford, CT 06902.
