Obituary for Rosemarie Kilbride Cavanaugh

Rosemarie K. Cavanaugh, of Newtown passed away on February 23, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late M. Joseph Cavanaugh.
Rosemarie was born in Newtown on August 10,1930 the daughter of the late Francis and Yvonne Kilbride. She graduated from Newtown Schools and St. Vincent's Medical Center School of Nursing.
Rosemarie worked in the Newtown School system for over 20 years as a school nurse. She spent most of her career in Newtown Middle School. In her retirement, she continued in her profession as a volunteer at Kevin's Community Center and as a parish nurse. She was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Church. She was the happiest when she was doing for others and giving back to her community.
She enjoyed first and foremost her family. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and just being outdoors.
Rosemarie is survived by her children; sons, Michael J. Cavanaugh his wife Jane; William P. Cavanaugh, his wife Paulette; Thomas J. Cavanaugh, his wife Donna, David J. Cavanaugh, his wife Ellen and daughters, Patricia C. Gantert, her husband Joseph and Joan M. Meads and her husband Randy and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank her companion and friend Odette Downer, we will always remember you and are so grateful for everything you have given to us. There is not enough words to express our gratitude, you will always be in our hearts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rose of Lima Church on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown on Saturday February 27th from 9:30 am to 12:15 pm.
