Obituary for Sheila Parkington Pinckney

Sheila Parkington Pinckney, 85, of Sandy Hook, CT passed away January 9, 2014 at Masonicare in Newtown, CT. She was the loving wife of Warren J. Pinckney. Warren and Sheila were married for 62 years.
Sheila, daughter of the late John and Betsy (Ellison) Parkington, was born November 12, 1928 in Cherry Tree, Lancashire, England. Sheila, her parents, a sister Marjorie, and brothers Tom and Harry immigrated to the United States in the fall of 1929 and settled in the New Canaan, CT area. After graduating from New Canaan High School, Sheila worked as a legal secretary.
Sheila and Warren raised their family in Norwalk, Ridgefield, and New Fairfield, CT before retiring to Cape Cod, MA in 1986. In 2004, they moved to Sandy Hook. Sheila was active in church throughout her life, was a Cub Scout den mother, and enjoyed boating, sailing, traveling, and camping.
In addition to her husband, Sheila is survived by two sons: Robert W. Pinckney and wife, Barbara, of Franklin, MA; and David J. Pinckney and wife, Joyce, of Newtown, CT. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jason, Michael, Jennifer, Leah, and Anna Pinckney. She was predeceased by Marjorie, Tom, and Harry.
Calling hours are from 5:00pm - 8:00pm Monday, January 13 at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. Newtown. Funeral service is 10:00am Tuesday, January 14 at the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Rd., Newtown. Burial will follow at the Newtown Village Cemetery.
