Thomas C. Paisley, 83, of Sandy Hook, died at home on September 8, 2011 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Born September 19, 1927, in Dubuque, Ia., he was the second of three children of Lewis C. and Evelyn L. Paisley.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sherril, of Sandy Hook; his daughter, Nina, and her husband, John, of Morris Plains, NJ; his brother, James, of Los Angeles, CA; and sister, Janet Smeltzer and her husband, Carl, of Denver, CO, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tom was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL and the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA. Tom served in the US Army of Occupation in Japan. He spent his entire career in the paper industry; was a Registered Professional Engineer and member of Triangle Engineering Fraternity.
Tom was a former member of the Newtown Planning and Zoning Commission, a Connecticut Justice of the Peace and volunteer at the Newtown Meeting House, as well as a volunteer with Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, Inc. He loved his family, his dogs, his home, his town, his country and all things automotive.
