Obituary for Virginia M "Ginny" Powers (Stevens)

Virginia M. Powers, 89, wife of the late Carl E. Powers and previously a longtime resident of Sandy Hook died Tuesday February 3rd in Saint John Paul II Center, Danbury. She was born in Lewiston, ME a daughter of the late Leslie and Ethel (Hutchinson) Stevens. Ginny was a resident of Sandy Hook for over fifty years and retired in 1991 as US Mail Carrier for the Sandy Hook Post Office. Mrs. Powers was a longtime member of the Newtown Congregational Church. She is survived by four sons, Steven C. Powers and his wife Patricia of Newtown, Robert Bragg of Texas, Russell Bragg of Maine and William Bragg and his wife Andrea of Waldoboro, ME; 3 daughters, Arline O’Dell and her husband Richard of Bethel, Claudia Alfredson of Derry, NH and Debby Bragg of Maine; Twelve grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother Claude Stevens. A Graveside Service will be held at the Newtown Village Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. Newtown Friday February 6th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
