As a college and graduate student I worked with Bill in the bearing deparment of Barden Industries during the summers of 1972 and '73. Bill was a steady, friendly presence - willing to help out a newcomer and always free with a kind word. Bill made me feel welcome and valued. After I left Bardens and moved on to Pennsylvania and marriage Bill sent my parents a lovely letter with very nice words about me. My parents still cherish that letter - so typical of Bill in thinking of others - today. So here's to you Bill! I remember that smile and those blue Irish eyes yet today.
