Obituary for William Wallace "Bill" Millard Jr.

William “Bill” Wallace Millard, Jr., age 67, of Newtown, passed away at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, December 21, 2014, surrounded by his family. Bill was born on December 8, 1947, in Danbury to the late William and Catherine (Lake) Millard. Following his education, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Anchorage Alaska as a helicopter mechanic. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he resided in Bethel for 29 years. Bill worked as a custodian in Bethel Public Schools for 11 years before retiring in 2013. Prior to his employment in Bethel, he worked at Ridgefield European Motors as an automobile mechanic for 30 years. After retirement, Bill enjoyed caring for his granddaughter, Shayna as well as cultivating and caring for his pet chickens. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara (Grant) Millard and his son, William W. Millard, III of Newtown, He is also survived by his devoted sister, Elaine Yamin of Newtown; a brother, Thomas Millard of Myrtle Beach, SC and beloved granddaughter Shayna Millard. Bill’s passing was very sudden and he will be missed tremendously by both family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, those desiring to make a memorial donation may send a contribution to their favorite charity.
