Obituary for William T. White

William Thomas White, 94, a resident of Sandy Hook, passed peacefully on
October 4 in Danbury Hospital. He was surrounded by his family in a room
filled with love. He was born on October 5, 1920 in New York City and
was a son of the late Helen (Whalen) and John White.

Bill was a veteran of the Army Air Force and received his honorable
discharge in 1946. He received his bachelor's degree from St. John's
University in 1949 and his MBA from New York University in 1952 and
retired from a long carreer at IBM in 1986.

Bill and his wife Norma (Fox) recently celebrated their 64th
anniversary. They lived in Valley Stream, NY before moving to Katonah,
NY and subsequently Sandy Hook.

He was a Civil War buff, a Yankee/Mets fan (yes, it does happen!), a
whiz with facts and figures and a constant source of amazement to his
children and grandchildren. He was the smartest man in the world.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Betty
Ross of Danbury, Kathleen Ferguson and her husband George, of Newtown
and Bridget of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; and three grandchildren,
Kaitlyn, Casey and Liam who were a great source of joy to him.

Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home 58 Main St. Newtown on Wed. Oct. 7 from 4-8PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thur. Oct. 8 at 10:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment will military honors will follow at St. Rose Cemetery.-
