Patsy Baker King

To the Curran and Korth Families, As you may know, I was in elementary school at St. John and St. Mary's in Chappaqua NY with Michael Curran and Marian Korth. In second grade Marian was my very best friend and I played at the Korths house often. I was so filled with joy when many years (or decades?) later I learned that Mrs. Korth and Mr. Bernie Curran had wed. The Curran and Korth families were both incredible examples to us all at St John and St Mary's Church: both big families filled with love and joy. I always admired both Bernie and Mary from afar; both such strong yet gentle souls. I knew their combined family was a blessing that was meant to be. My last memory of Bernie was at my own mother's funeral in 1996. I had given a eulogy which was actually a really bad idea because I hate public speaking and I was so nervous and shaky that no one could hear or understand a word I said! I had spent HOURS writing what I wanted to say and ultimately felt I had faileld. Afterwards I was disappointed in myself and feeling somewhat embarrassed with grief pouring out of my skin when Bernie came up to me and put his arm around me. He sweetly whispered how wonderful my words were and how much they touched him. Instantly I felt so much better. Bernie was seated close to to the altar and had felt my pain and wanted to help. That's the kind of guy Bernie was - kind and compassionate, ready to step in and console wounded hearts. I will never forget that moment. I wrote the family a few times since then and have heard bits and pieces of family news through the grapevine. I am so sorry to hear of Bernie's passing ... a great loss for the family and all who knew and loved him. Clearly he lived a full, joy-filled life .. I live too far away to come to the services but want to extend a special hello to both Marian and Michael! I hope you are both doing well and able to find peace in knowing that Bernie went to straight to heaven .. I know my mom, Lucy Baker, and the entire Baker clan loved your dad dearly. So sorry for your loss - With love, Patsy
