Obituary for Anna S. Crouch (Staudhammer)

Anna S.  Crouch (Staudhammer)
Anna S. Crouch, 87 of Southbury died peacefully at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by her children, on May 22, 2015.
Known to many as Oma, Anna was born on September 18, 1927 to Josef and Rosina Staudhammer in Rosenheim, Bavaria Germany.
Anna moved to America after WWII as a war bride with her husband Frederick Dave Crouch, who was a U.S. Marine. They settled together in Newtown and had five children.
Anna’s career was with the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services at Southbury Training School. She loved working with individuals with disabilities and retired as a Residential Program Supervisor.
Anna was a founding member of the Bible Baptist Church in Newtown, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. For the last twenty years, Anna was a member of Central Baptist Church in Southington, Ct.
Her favorite pastimes included attending her German Conversation group with her fellow German friends, reading books on History, bird watching and gardening, and knitting. Most of all she loved any time spent with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind her four children: Arthur Crouch and wife Norma of New Milford, Susan O’Connor and husband Dan of Southington, Pamela Palmer and husband Tim of Roxbury, and Dinah Walsh and husband Jim of Sandy Hook and ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Frederick Dave Crouch, two sisters, Centa and Josephine, and a brother, Sepp in Germany, and her son Frederick Crouch who is survived by his wife Mary of Northfield, CT. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews here in America and also in Germany.
Calling Hours are Friday, May 29, 2015 at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown from 5-8 pm.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Honan Funeral Home at 11am followed by interment at Newtown Village Cemetery.
