Maggie Callanan

Sitting and listening to Anna on her back patio was like sitting at the knee of history: growing up in Germany during such difficult times, being courted by her handsome American soldier (who won the heart of her family by bringing the deer meat to them from his hunting), her pride in his having fought at the Battle of the Bulge, coming as an 18 year old war bride to the alien but wonderful and accepting world of Newtown, and all the pride and joy she felt in her children's successes and their families and children. These are treasures I will hold dear. I often told her that she was not done here until she taught other mothers how to raise such gifted, talented and above all loving and devoted children. Anna wanted for nothing except to be with her beloved Dave and her dearly loved Freddie. She talked of them more and more in recent weeks. "I'm so tired," she'd say. So, now she rests in their loving arms. Bear, Bailey's and I will miss her so. Maggie
