Obituary for Joel Ian Minalgo

Joel Ian  Minalgo
Joel Ian Minalgo, age 23 of Philadelphia, PA died unexpectedly January 1, 2013. He was born in Bridgeport December 18, 1989 a son of John Minalgo of Newtown and Judith (Kolh) Minalgo of Sandy Hook. Joel grew up in Newtown and was a graduate of Newtown High School, class of 2008 where he was a 4 year member of the varsity wrestling team. He was a server for restaurants in the Philadelphia area and was excited about attending the Community College of Philadelphia this January. Joel will be remembered as loving life.
In addition to his parents, Joel is survived by 2 brothers, Jay Minalgo of Austin, TX and Jesse Minalgo and his wife Poey and their son Blake of Newtown; 2 sisters, Jody Morris and her husband Anthony and their sons Jack and Luke of Sandy Hook and Jamie Minalgo-Martinez and her husband Jesse of Brooklyn, NY; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Kolh and her partner, David Geci of Seymour and his paternal grandmother, Celeste Verzano of Ansonia and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday January 6, 2013 at 3:00pm in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Friends may call Sunday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm prior to the service. To leave an online condolence, go to www.honanfh.com
